Welcome

On Thursday night, Mar. 18, at it's third continuation, the planning commissioners approved the Crista master development plan but did add some amendments. These amendements should be available on the City website in a few days: www.shorlewa.gov , from the homepage, click departments, click planning and permits, click Crista Master Plan.
Next it goes before the City of Shoreline city council. Probably the first meeting will be city staff giving an informative presentation about the project and the mitigations and amendments.
Then at another business meeting they will either accept as presented, modify and make amendments or send it back to be redone.
There will not be any opportunity for citizen input.
Later on when permits are filed for each building, there will be an opportunity for public comment on each one.
The saga continues.
The February 18 Shoreline Planning Commission meeting discussing recommendations for the Crista Master Plan Process has been continued again to March 18. This meeting was continued from the January 21 meeting. So the discussion goes on as Crista Ministries and neighbors express their views to the Commissioners and, in turn, the Commissioners ask probing questions regarding traffic, parking, pedestrian safety, noise, construction disruption, size of the new practice field, usefulness of an on campus access road and access to parking for the planned Early Childhood Center.
The continuation does mean the residents still can submit written comments to the Planning Commission about any issues that concern them. Comments should be sent to Steve Szafran, 17500 Midvale Ave. N., Shoreline, WA 98133 or by email, sszafran@shorelinewa.gov. The Crista Master Plan and related documents and comments can be seen at http://www.shorelinewa.gov/index.aspx?page=500 or at Firlands Good Neighbors League website: fgnl.org.
There is still talk of trying to enforce the 1980 agreement that says Crista will not build on the west or east side of the property. This is a civil matter and the city has washed their hands of it. The only way to impliment this is to find original signers and get an attorney. This requires money. If any of you have any interest in stopping this development cold, then vote with your wallet! Make a donation.
We had a great turn out for the Jan. 21 meeting with an estimated 75 people present and many speakers. The Commissioners had plainly read all the comments sent in by you and asked many pointed questions about traffic, parking, construction noise, run-off and other neighborhood issues. The meeting went on until 11 pm and all almost those people sat and listened intently. Their presence sent a huge message to the board. They were unable to finish and have issued a continuence of this meeting to Feb. 18. There will be no notice, we will do that for them. Watch for another postcard. No more public comments will be allowed at that meeting unless something new turns up. You may still mail or email commnets to the planning department.
Please join us at the Planning Commission Hearing, Thurs., Feb. 18, 7 to9:30 pm, Council Chambers, City Hall, 17500 Midvale Ave. N. We want to present a solid front and have lots of people present. Just come and sit and listen. Your presence can have impact. Please join us.!

Firlands Good Neighbor League is a non-profit group dedicated to maintaining the quality of life, ecology and property values in our neighorhood. While we are not inherently opposed to the good work Crista Ministries does, we are working to educate ourselves and our neighbors about the Crista Master Plan process and mitigate the effects of additional traffic, personnel, construction and tree removal over the next 15 to 20 years as proposed by the Crista Master Plan.
